Why Choose Us

A Family Tradition for Almost 75 Years

The William R. May Funeral Home was founded in Glenside, Pennsylvania in 1948 by Bill and Mary May. Bill and Mary purchased the Glenside location in 1949, where Bill started serving families in the area.

This very building was also the home where they raised their four children, and today Bill and Mary’s son and two granddaughters carry on the family tradition. Harry joined his father and sister Kathleen in 1974 as a licensed funeral director and now proprietor. This year, after 44 years of valued service Kathleen retired to enjoy her family and grandchildren. Harry is an active member in the community and strives to live by the high standards his father taught him: consideration, concern, and support for each family he serves.

The family tradition continues, business expands Two of Bill and Mary’s granddaughters joined the funeral home: Laura May Haggerty in 2004 as a licensed Funeral Director and Christine M. May in 2011 as a licensed Funeral Director. In 2005, the William R. May Funeral Home expanded its outreach and purchased the Longenecker Funeral Home in North Wales, Pa. This location operates as an additional full-service William R. May Funeral Home, serving North Wales and its surrounding communities.
